I'm Kevin Mastascusa, a machine learning engineer in Harleysville, PA, outside Philadelphia. I run Mastascusa Holdings LLC full-time: I build production AI systems for early-stage teams, and I audit organizations deploying AI where mistakes are expensive. Building shows me where systems break. Auditing shows me which breaks matter.
Background
I graduated from Drexel University in 2026 with a BS in Data Science and a minor in Artificial Intelligence, focused on machine learning engineering, computer vision, deep learning, and optimization. For my senior project I led a seven-person team that built a computer-vision system that finds defects on trading cards from a single phone photo: a custom photometric lighting rig, surface-normal and curvature maps, and a U-Net segmentation model trained on about 800 hand-labeled cards. Before that I worked on data governance at ECRI, the independent nonprofit that evaluates healthcare technology risk.
Why audits
Most AI governance frameworks are written from the compliance side. Mine is written from the engineering side: I check what the documentation says against how the system actually behaves. The questions in the audit are the ones I'd want answered before trusting a system I built myself.
Holdings
Mastascusa Holdings LLC is a Pennsylvania company. Builds and readiness reviews are both delivered by me directly — no subcontractors, no handoff to someone more junior after the first call.
